"Director Guillaume de Faux's self-styled 'psychedelic film noir' is largely a success, though de Faux's characteristic obtuseness is sure to alienate some viewers...Whatever can be said for the plot, composer Nathan Derr's soundtrack effectively underpins the increasingly chaotic visuals, and is at turns haunting and ecstatic...Allow me to briefly describe a strange sensation I had while viewing. As the story rushed towards its doomed conclusion and the visual assault nearly became too much to bear, it was almost as if the rest of the film gradually melted away, leaving behind only the soundtrack with its languishing strings, floating off into eternity. That said, I was, admittedly, rather high..."
